What is CAPTCHA? Why do we have to type In those crazy letters huh?

February 13, 2012

Have you ever asked yourself  why do I have to type in those annoying, frustrating and frankly irksome letters everytime you are asked to input some information about yourself in order to access a site?

Argh! Especially when it seems to take about 10 attempts to try decipher between an L and a J or an A and E!!!! Am I Human? It asks me??

No. I am a Giraffe!!  Of course I am human! I did not know there were aliens or that animals were PC literate?

Yes this happens to us all, but I came across the reason today and my anger is now allayed.

The reason for it is to avoid SPAM. This means that Spammers that run automatic programs to infiltrate sites cannot get in.

And relax.

It all makes sense now. I just do not understand why they have to make them so tricky to decipher…
