Mobile tech now seen as “fourth utility”
Despite this fact, 28 per cent of mid-sized UK businesses don’t have a mobile strategy in place and 30 per cent are without a continuity strategy for loss of internet access. In the brave new world of four utilities, the lack of a strategic basis for ensuring, securing and maximising mobility is a high risk strategy.
That’s according to a study by Intrinsic, who investigated the approaches to, and attitudes towards, mobility, amongst 200 IT decision makers at mid-sized UK organisations (with between 250 and 1,000 employees).
The study shows that mobile technologies, including mobile devices and applications, voice and video conferencing and cloud computing, are now seen by 92 per cent IT decision makers as the fourth utility for business, alongside electricity, gas and water.
