Stirling might be the smallest city in Scotland but with businesses in Stirling now eligible for the Government’s Connection Voucher Scheme offering grants of up to £3,000 for fibre broadband installation, it will soon be as well connected as its counterparts.
In 2013, Stirling Council recognized the importance of broadband for sustaining business in the area and undertook a significant amount of research and planning into improving the digital infrastructure. The need that they recognised has now been met with the city’s inclusion on the SuperConnected Cities Scheme and we are already seeing lots of Stirling businesses apply for the free grant.
All businesses can benefit from better connectivity but hotels and restaurants are a great example of Internet reliance. Monachyle Mhor owner, Tom Lewis, estimated that the cost to the business of compensating for poor connectivity is at least the equivalent cost of one full time member of staff. For businesses who rely on the Internet to run a website, facilitate online booking, order online and provide connectivity to guests, the improved infrastructure to the area is a huge step in the right direction for business growth.
With fibre connectivity considered the gateway to better working practices, cost efficiencies and competitive advantage, it’s worth checking your business’ eligibility today.
